Robot Academy Virtual Solutions

For a Fun, Interactive Online Experience

An interactive, fun, online learning experience for kids age 8-15 (suggested) who love LEGOs and want to learn how to build awesome robots (or LEGO creations), collaborate with peers, and solve problems.  Our Robot Academy founders won numerous LEGO Robot and Invention competitions at the National and International level (as participants and coaches).  As Award-Winning coaches, we are sharing our problem-solving secrets in a fun and engaging way to inspire the next generation.

During this phase of Social Distancing, your child can still engage with like-minded peers and highly qualified instructors to invent brilliant solutions to help around the house and even the world.

Choose from:

InventionLAB: Online LEGO Robot Class and Interactive Robot Club with the Robot Guy (one-year access, LEGO MINDSTORMS Robot required)

    • Fun video demonstrations (accessed on-demand via an online learning system) empower kids to learn real building and programming techniques.
    • Online meetings with the “Robot Guy” or “LEGO Lady” provide structure while enabling kids to ask questions and learn from other students’ ideas.
    • Kids learn to be self-motivated inventors /designers /developers /engineers.
    • Access to the “Robot Guy” (two-time LEGO robotics world champion) for troubleshooting help enables kids to succeed with their LEGO Robots.
    • Access to the “LEGO Lady” (Coach of Invention Competition teams winning on the National and International level) for winning inventions with tips for competition submissions.
    • Online sessions and goals provide just the right amount of structure, while choose-your-own-adventure challenges enable creativity and imagination.
    • Open-ended challenges keep kids entertained for hours each day in pursuit of the ultimate robot!

Age:

Kids 8 to 15 will watch fun videos with step-by-step instructions. Kids under 8 years old are welcome to enroll, but may need a parent or older sibling’s guidance for certain tasks, but will still have lots of independent fun and learning.  Kids will experience the same exciting Robot Guy videos that they enjoy at our in-person camps!

Format:

InventionLAB: Online LEGO Robot Class to teach your kids everything they need to know to build problem-solving robots!

  • They will learn to build robots to clean their room, pick up LEGOs and even feed the pet.  And best of all, they will have a blast doing it and spend countless hours after camp is over
building robots to do cool things.  Lean into the kids being at home and channel their energy and free time into productive play.
  • New projects announced each week in April with a weekly Interactive Robot Club to collaborate with peers, celebrate achievements and troubleshoot robots.
  • Students have access to engaging videos, step-by-step instructions (using LEGO Digital Designer software) and structured lessons for one-year.
  • Tailored instruction blended with social time and self-paced building/programming time means your student will be happy and engaged throughout the day.
  • Robot Academy is building a group of LEGO fans who want to solve problems with LEGO MINDSTORMS.

InventionCAMP:
Interactive Online LEGO STEM Camp (one-week access, no LEGO Robot needed, personalized instructor feedback)

Materials:

For InventionLAB: Aside from a computer, all your student need is a LEGO Mindstorms EV3 set (the older NXT set is also acceptable). These can be purchased online or in-store from LEGO, Amazon, Walmart, eBay, Kohl’s, etc. (call ahead to make sure they’re in stock). Registration is only $399 per household for one-year access to both InventionLAB online class and Robot Club (over $2,000 value).

Please note: Robot sets are $350 (if significantly higher then try a different store). Consider this an investment in your child’s future; with LEGO robotics, kids can learn a hobby that consists of real-world technological problem solving and prepares them for careers in STEM.

For InventionCAMP: Students will need a computer and LEGOs (technic LEGOs preferred but not required).  Students will be taught LEGO prototyping as well as Cardboard prototyping.  Materials may include cardboard, masking tape, markers, and fun accessories. Registration is only $249 per household, so it is STEM fun for all of your kids (and maybe a friend or two) which makes this the most economical way for your children to learn STEM (and have a blast).

For Online Private Lessons: One-on-One Online Private LEGO Robot or STEM Lessons with a Robot Genius.  Students will need a computer to work with the instructor and a LEGO Robot project of the student’s choice.
